Beaded Ornaments and Gifts, is the thirteenth book in the Beadflowers Beading Patterns series. It offers you the complete collection of beading tutorials that I created for making dimensional ornaments and gifts. These projects spanned my entire career as a bead artist and I shared them through the Beadflowers website. So, you are getting more than twenty different projects in this one book. The majority of the projects in this volume, use traditional seed beads. I have included a few designs using multi-holed or shaped seed beads, plus some additional beads used for decorative elements. The projects range in difficulty from beginner to advanced. They use primarily Peyote stitch, with a few other basic bead-weaving techniques for some. I loved creating dimensional work, and also created a lot of ornaments for Christmas, Easter and Halloween. Those ornaments are included in the next volume in this series. So, you may also want to grab a copy of that. You might wish to supplement this book with the second volume in the series, which teaches you basic beading techniques. For the beginner projects in this volume, I have shared everything you need to know to complete your design. Projects for more experienced beaders assume that you already have basic technique skills. So, if you wish to learn or remind yourself of the basics, definitely ensure you have access to volume two to use alongside this. If, like me, you are an avid beader, you will soon be looking to stretch your skills beyond jewellery projects. You may also need some different gifts to share with friends. So, the projects in this volume are perfect. Spoil yourself with a beaded needle case, or some beaded napkin rings for special occasions. Why not gift key rings to friends? Or add a bowl of beaded chocolates or sweets to create a talking point in your home. I hope you will have fun exploring the projects in here and realise how versatile our brilliant seed beads can be!Katie Dean followed a career in the beading industry for over 12 years. During that time, she designed and published over 500 patterns, more than 10 books, and taught numerous beading classes, both in-person and online. She also worked as editor of Bead and Jewellery Magazine for 3 years, ran her own business, Beadflowers, and appeared on the Craft Channel and Jewellery Maker TV. She reached the finals and won multiple international beading competitions, participated several times in Battle of the Beadsmith, and had her designs published in just about every major beading magazine across the world (back when beading magazines existed!). The information and projects shared in this book series, Beadflowers Beading Patterns, represent the legacy of Katie's beading experience and designs. May they support you in growing your skills and bring you much joy as you explore the wonderful world of beading! Read more
