The firestop radiation shield is a fire safety component and is required by the safety standard and building codes in order to achieve a safe chimney installation. A firestop radiation shield must be installed wherever the chimney system penetrates through a floor of the structure (namely, 2 and 3 story structures) except at the roof level or where the ceiling support box is location.
